• Build database and deploy scheme changes to production databases while maintaining DB availability targets.
• Work with Product development team to develop an everyday understanding of requirements and implement required solutions.
• Manage thousands of Dev/QA Database instances supporting PayPal cloud.
• Triage incidences, root causes, and implement security policies.
• Conduct SQL review and suggest areas of improvement.
• Share knowledge and work with a large team of DBAs, Operations groups, Capacity and ETL team.
• Work with Shell, Perl, and/or Python to deliver on automation.
• Handle cloud technologies including cloud migrations.
• Design and implement resiliency solutions including backups, recovery, disaster recovery, and failover testing.
• Manage RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
• Implement monitoring solutions based on in-house and vendor-based solutions.
• Performance and solution engineering to improve resiliency for applications hosted on RDBMS & NoSQL databases.
• Lead and provide technical direction, guidance, and strategy to the Database teams, design technical documentation and roadmap tasks for the team.Minimum Requirements:Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus six years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.Special Skill Requirements:
• 3 years of experience in each of the following:
• Cloud technologies (GCP, OCI, and Azure).
• Solution Engineering.
• Rubrik, Cloudian, RMAN.
• Time Series databases and Datadog.
• Performance engineering of Oracle databases.
• MySQL administration.
• Oracle RAC and Oracle Exadata.
• Active Data Guard, Golden Gate, and Streams.
• Building and supporting automations using Python, Shell, and Ansible.
