there is a patient waiting.The Scientist II is a bench-level job
focusing on real-time PCR and RT-PCR assay and product development
in an FDA-QSR and ISO9001-compliant organization. The candidate
will plan and execute laboratory research and demonstrate
appropriate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and
collaboration with cross-functional departments.This position is
part of the Biochip R&D team and will be in Sunnyvale, CA,
Onsite.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Support executing studies to verify sensitivity and specificity
of oligonucleotide designs in PCR detection and melt.
- Work cross functionally with Bioinformatics, Engineering, and
other interdisciplinary groups to design, define, and test various
aspects of the assay.The essential requirements of the job include:
- Evaluating and testing reagent formulations, lyophilization,
and stabilities and develop real-time PCR assays by integrating PCR
detection with sample preparation and device fluidics as part of
feasibility studies involved in developing a prototype.
- Analyzing data using statistical tools such as Microsoft Excel
or Minitab.
- Ability to follow product development lifecycle process and
design control.
- Maintaining detailed experimental records and documents results
in a technical report in a laboratory notebook, presenting data at
internal team meetings.
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of related work experience OR
Master's degree in field with 0-2 years of related work
experience.Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment
Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment wearing personal
protective equipment including but not limited to lab coats,
goggles, gloves, masks, etc. for extended periods.It would be a
plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience with real time PCR or RT-PCR optimization.
- Experience with product development/design control (Technical
Feasibility and Design & Development phases).
- Knowledge in handling clinical samples and ability to work in a
